Tourism Corporation of Gujarat has celebrated the International Kite Festival 2011 with wholesome participation from all over the globe at Sabarmati River Front from 9th Jan, 2011 to 12th Jan, 2011. International Kite Festival is held at Ahmedabad on January 14 every year, to coincide with the festival of Uttarayan or Makar Sankranti. In Gujarat, Makar Sankranti is celebrated as the kite-flying day. Uttarayan is a two-day festival in Gujarat and an International Kite Festival is held during the period in Ahmedabad. Kite flying enthusiasts from different parts of the world arrive at Ahmedabad to take part in the international competition. The festival draws expert kite-makers and flyers not only from cities of India but also from around the world. Designer’s Kites of infinite variety are displayed at the venue.
